Instacast

I really, really, really love podcasts. This last year I've been (un)fortunate with a lengthy daily commute to a dayjob that doesn't really require much of my cognitive attention. For many years, I've downloaded podcasts through the chaotic manifestation of an app commonly refered to as iTunes™. This meant that to stay updated with the newest episodes, I had to actually tether my iPhone to the Macbook, make sure all the episodes was downloaded, and push 'sync' and initate a tedious process of backup, application updates, and so on. And ever so often, this is something I had to do when I should have left the house five minutes prior.
Enter Instacast. I must admit an initial skepticism in breaking the bond with iTunes™, and leave the idea of hoarding on to hundreds of episodes. It didn't take long before I recognized how much sense it is to have a dedicated podcast app that manages all your subscriptions, syncs over the air (even over 3G), and lists all episodes for your convenience. (Not to mention the fact that show-notes can be sent directly to Instapaper). I know there are other similar apps, but Instacast is the most reliable and slickest out there. Take my word for it.
Podcasts I listen to (in no particular order): You Look Nice Today, WNYC's Radiolab, This Week in Tech, This Week in Google, This American Life, The Talkshow, The Incomparable Podcast, The Big Web Show, The /Filmcast, Herreavdelingen, Radioresepsjonen, NPR's Car Talk, MacBreak Weekly, Mac Power Users, Let's Make Mistakes, Judge John Hodgman, Hypercritical, Filmfrelst, Enough - The Minimal Mac Podcast, Build and Analyze and Back to Work.
